Comboanimals Fun bit of information

They are utilised by mountain climbers who have bred some of them to help them with their climbs. They carry equipment and stores and when tethered via rope to a climber they will follow the mountain climber up mountains. They are usually better climbers than their human climbing partner and there are many instances where they have saved the mountain climbers life when they have slipped or lost their grip.

Comboanimals Folklore

A mountain climber was once stranded on a mountain with a sprained ankle. He was exhausted and sleep deprived after climbing for a week. He was starting to hallucinate and see things that weren’t there. He thought he saw a half man half goat standing over him. Next thing he knew he was at base camp in bed. When he told the doctor what he thought he saw he was told he likely saw a wise old goat.

Comboanimals Physical Description

A goat who walks on its hind legs and has the upper torso, arms and hands of a monkey. A male stands over 2m tall from head to hoof, it’s horns give it an additional 0.3m in height. Large males can weigh more than 120 kg (260 pounds), and females weigh about 60–90 kg (130–200 pounds). Males also have longer horns and longer beards than females. Males are typically larger, stronger and heavier than females.

Comboanimals Information

This creature is an excellent climber with nimble monkey fingers which grip rock and strong arms which can pull up its body weight. Their feet are well-suited for climbing steep rocky slopes with inner pads that provide traction and cloven hooves that can spread apart. The tips of their feet have sharp dewclaws to keep them from slipping.

They are protected from the elements by their woolly greyish white double coats. The fine, dense wool of their undercoats is covered by an outer layer of longer, hollow hairs. Their coats help them to withstand winter temperatures as low as −46 °C (−51 °F) and winds of up to 160 kilometres per hour (99 mph).

It cannot swim well and it can’t fly. It’s best ability is it can climb shear mountain faces. It uses its ability to climb higher than its land predators can climb such as bears, coyotes and mountain cats. It’s horns protect them from eagle attacks.

They are found on sheer faces of rock and can be seen on elevations which exceed 13,000 ft (4,000 m). They tend to climb higher than mountain goats to avoid conflict with them and to reach vegetation that mountain goats cannot reach.

They are extremely rare to see in the wild due to their limited numbers. The steep terrain they live in and the lack of vegetation available does not sustain large numbers of the animal.

Diet: Omnivore, eats mostly vegetation and will lick rock for salt and minerals.

Habitat: alpine mountainous terrains

Location: North America

Ratings Reasoning: High friendly rating because they help stranded mountain climbers.
